By flowers
A corpse was there
tangled up in
a tree's branches

carrion's
blossoming flesh
shined red in the
gnawing sunlight

its ribcage
was coiled like
tendrils anchored
to a plant stem

instead of
a face, all that
was left was a
handful of flies.

C.M. Molina is a poet from Charlotte, North Carolina, with the goal of writing precise, surreal imagery.
